# Omnia vs watsonx Orchestrate

> Omnia gates each version on simulated users, rolls it out in steps with automatic rollback, and tests voice end to end. On watsonx Orchestrate, the release around its evaluations is a CI/CD pattern you assemble yourself.

Category: Enterprise suites. Checked against IBM’s published material on 2026-10-22. Canonical page: https://www.altairalabs.ai/vs/watsonx-orchestrate/

## We’ve already invested in watsonx Orchestrate’s evaluations.

Keep them. What’s missing is the release around them: on watsonx Orchestrate that’s a CI/CD pattern you assemble, with branches, gates you write and a Git revert when a version goes wrong. Omnia ships that release process with the platform.

## When it matters: A new HR agent version starts giving the wrong parental-leave entitlement.

**On Omnia:** The version was on the first step of its rollout, serving some of the staff, when the metrics moved. Promotion stopped and the previous version took the traffic back. (Omnia docs: https://omnia.altairalabs.ai/tutorials/progressive-rollouts/)

**On watsonx Orchestrate:** IBM’s CI/CD guide rolls back with a Git revert that triggers the pipeline to redeploy the previous version. Canary and automatic rollback aren’t documented. (source: https://developer.watson-orchestrate.ibm.com/tutorials/ci_cd/deployment-cicd-approach-3)

## The release process comes with it

The gate, the stepped rollout and the rollback are part of the platform, so there’s no pipeline to design before the first release. An employee halfway through a leave question stays on the version they started with. *(enterprise)* (Omnia docs: https://promptarena.altairalabs.ai/arena/how-to/interfaces/run-in-ci/)

watsonx Orchestrate: Promotion through dev, qa, preprod and prod branches, with quality gates you build into your pipeline. (source: https://developer.watson-orchestrate.ibm.com/tutorials/ci_cd/deployment-cicd-approach-3)

## Adversarial and voice tests for every agent

Adversarial scenarios and voice tests run against Omnia’s own agents and against any agent endpoint you can reach, wherever it’s hosted. (Omnia docs: https://promptarena.altairalabs.ai/arena/how-to/voice/voice-red-team/)

watsonx Orchestrate: Vulnerability testing covers OWASP LLM risks for native agents only. Voice testing isn’t documented. (source: https://developer.watson-orchestrate.ibm.com/evaluate/llm_vulnerability)

## Telemetry out, into your stack

OpenTelemetry with a documented span inventory goes to the collector you already run, with Prometheus metrics and Grafana dashboards alongside. (Omnia docs: https://omnia.altairalabs.ai/reference/platform/telemetry/)

watsonx Orchestrate: OTLP traces from external agents come into the Agent Analytics dashboard. Exporting native agent traces to your collector isn’t documented. (source: https://developer.watson-orchestrate.ibm.com/traces/otel-export)

## Questions

**Can both use models from other vendors?**

Yes. Omnia speaks seven providers’ native protocols and any OpenAI-compatible endpoint; watsonx Orchestrate imports external models through its AI Gateway.

**How is Omnia priced?**

Free while you build, the core free in production, and an enterprise licence per environment per year from £30,000. Nothing is metered per user or per message.
